Salt+Cedar was started by me, Andrea Fubler, in the fall of 2016. Here’s the scoop on how I got started. I’ve always had an interest in nutrition and I decided to take the leap and complete my designation as a Holistic Nutritionist while continuing to work full time. In 2015 I left my position as a Clothing Buyer at a prominent local company after almost 15 years of working in the industry to follow my dream of becoming a Nutritionist.
As a Nutritionist I was always advocating for my clients, friends and family to start eating real, whole foods so why was I settling for lotions and cosmetics that were full of ingredients and chemicals that I couldn’t pronounce? This got me thinking…
I started obsessively researching skincare and cosmetic brands and the (pretty nasty) ingredients that were in them. I decided I definitely needed to clean up my skincare and beauty routine. It was time to go green. You’ve heard it before, our skin is our largest organ and it absorbs a percentage of the lotions and potions that we slather on it.
I flipped the story and started focusing my research on all the amazing companies out there that are making clean, green products full of potent, nourishing ingredients from nature that benefit the health of your skin and hair. Yes, you can still have shiny hair, and bright, blemish-free skin while working to banish those pesky crow's feet. Why not harness the amazing power of nature’s ingredients with what you feed your body and your skin?!
Salt+Cedar was born once I married my love for nutrition with my experience in business and retail. When I launched the store I had a baby on the way and I knew it was even more important to be extra careful with what went on my skin. I also wanted to be sure that what I chose to use on my precious, perfect newborn baby’s skin was gentle, safe and effective. I couldn’t find a good selection of non-toxic beauty and skincare products locally, that was all in one place, so I decided to curate my own collection of green goodies. My idea for an online store was born. In May 2019 we opened a storefront in Hamilton, Bermuda.
In selecting brands to carry at Salt+Cedar I choose to support family-owned or woman-owned companies. I look for company owners that are passionate about their products, that procure quality ingredients from reputable sources and that have the good of our planet at heart. We love do-gooders and we’re passionate about supporting small business owners with big dreams!
My goal is for Salt+Cedar to be the only place you need to visit in order to find all your favorite natural beauty, lifestyle and self-care needs. I intend to keep growing and expanding the lines I carry with your continued support.
